Hello! My Name Is
Holly Nemec
7-12 School Counselor at Brookwood High School
Greetings Falcon Families! The 2025-2026 school year will be my 7th year as the Brookwood Junior High/High School Counselor, my 20th year as a School Counselor, and 28th year working in a school setting. I grew up in Hillsboro and went on to pursue a BS in Psychology at UW-Platteville. Upon graduating I married my high school sweetheart, Brian. We ended up in southern WI, where I worked as a secretary for Big Foot High School in Walworth, WI, while I earned my MS in Counselor Education with an emphasis in School Counseling at UW-Whitewater. I did a one year long-term School Counseling sub at Walworth Elementary/Middle School before returning to this area in 2007. I worked as the School Counselor at Wonewoc-Center Schools for 12 years (2007-2019).
In 2026 my husband and I will celebrate our 30th anniversary. We have a two adult children, Justin and Abigail, who both live in the LaCrosse area. In my free time I enjoy shopping, watching TV, reading, camping, kayaking, watching volleyball, and spending time with my family.
I plan to work with 7th and 8th graders in the classrooms for education on a variety of topics such as anger and conflict resolution, bullying, study skills, time and stress management, coping skills, self-esteem, and use Xello for career exploration. Along with guidance, I will be working with students in grades 9-12 on Academic & Career Planning, a state requirement for all students in high school. I will be helping students with college and career exploration, employability/soft skills, as well as scheduling and testing requirements. I will also have individual and parent conferences throughout the school year to talk about student progress. I encourage students to advocate for themselves.
I do my best to help students with day to day issues, however I am not a clinical mental health counselor. Often times, students may be referred for outside counseling/therapy. Clinical mental health counselors/therapists are certified to diagnose, treat, and help individuals with a wide range of concerns, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, grief, and much more! We work closely with Scenic Bluffs for behavioral health in virtual and in-school appointments. Emplify (formerly Gundersen) is another location that students have worked with.
My contact information is: (608) 337-4401 or [email protected]. I'm looking forward to another great school year! I am looking forward to another great school year!
