College Entrance Exams/Testing

Most colleges and universities require admissions test for students seeking admission. 

ACT - www.actstudent.org
The ACT test is one college entrance test that is required by many colleges. This test consists of four multiple choice test areas: English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science. There is also an option writing test which is required by two schools in Wisconsin: UW Madison and Marquette University. The cost of the ACT exam is $46.00 and the ACT with the writing test is $62.50

SAT - www.collegeboard.com

The SAT Reasoning Test is a college admissions test that students may take. Many schools will accept both the ACT and SAT for admissions. There is a writing component that is part of the SAT exam; it is not an optional test like it is for the ACT exam. The cost of the SAT Reasoning test is $46.00 and the SAT with writing is $62.50.

UW System Electronic Application

  • Cost is $50 per school
  • UW Madison application cost - $60
  • Applications are accepted starting September 1
  • Notify counselor that transcripts need to be sent
  • Make sure your ACT or SAT scores were sent to the college admissions office
  • Apply early - priority dates will be different for every school

Wisconsin Technical Colleges

  • Cost is $30 per school

  • Apply online or by paper application.

  • Applications can be completed after the students complete their junior year in high school

  • Submit official transcripts with your application

  • Schedule to take the ACCUPLACER test or other placement test.
